This six-semester study course comes in two versions: as a full-time bachelor that awards graduates the qualification “state-approved social worker”, and in a in-company (part-time) form of studies. The latter enables students to acquire the title and corresponding academic education while working part-time in a practical institution. With the additional +PLUS option, students acquire 25 extra credits through specialization in another subject area, e.g. extremism and prevention of radicalization, migration and integration, leadership and team building.

B. A. International Emergency and Disaster Relief

This six-semester full-time study course prepares students for a career in the field of development cooperation and in humanitarian aid worldwide. The degree entitles to a master’s course or work at NGOs, state bodies and ministries, for studies and research in medical, management, coordination, security advising, and similar professions. The interdisciplinary and practice-oriented education combines relevant findings of social and political sciences with fundamental knowledge in non-violent conflict transformation instruments, project management, health, logistics, and administration. Further, students acquire knowledge about sustainable global development goals, migration and democracy and the fight against poverty.

The studies strive to qualify students capable of navigating the manifold practical, medical, and (inter)cultural challenges of humanitarian aid.
